Alice Through the Looking Glass – movie launch
The challenge :
For the first time in history the famous windows of the Piccadilly store have been filled with more than
just delicious things. To celebrate the release of Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass movie the
shop front was to be temporarily transformed into an Alice-themed extravaganza.
In the corner facing window Disney wanted to bring the characters to life with a customised screen
showing clips of the characters in a 3D-like video.
The solution :
Freehand worked closely with MXW Studios to specify a 75” Samsung high-bright screen to ensure that
the images are clearly visible throughout the day and night - even in bright sunlight.
The video content is played out from a BrightSign media player which are solid state and robust to be
playing out 24 hours a day.
Installation of the screen in a gilt frame was performed out-of-hours with close cooperation from Paul
Symes, Head of Visual Presentation at Fortnum & Mason.
The result :
Maria Walker of MXW Studios commented “We specialize in communication solutions and integrated
marketing strategies for film, entertainment and wider industries. Screens are now one of the key
channels for communicating key brand-building messages. Freehand interpreted the Disney brief easily
and delivered a solution that integrates well with the Alice theme in other windows”
